About Me
Thanks for clicking the ‘About Me’ link. I’m Gerret Peters and I started the 10×10 in 2010 blog as a way to share a year-long journey of personal tranformation. Just out of the service in 1992 I weighed 193 pounds and ran an average of six miles a few days a week. Fast forward 18 years to January of 2010, and I weighed 328 pounds and couldn’t run a mile if my life depended on it.
As a father (of 7 boys aged 4-16), husband, IT professional (the day job), entrepreneur (a selective Internet consultancy), and community volunteer (sit on two boards), I finally realized that being out of shape and headed for an early grave really wasn’t an option. This blog is designed to share my trials, tribulations and ultimate triumphs as I learn to juggle all of the responsibilities and still lose 100 pounds by this New Years Eve.
Weight loss is a struggle. If it wasn’t, obesity wouldn’t be the absolute epidemic that it is today. Conventional media, with its glossy imagery and photogenic salespeople make it look easy. If it was, obesity wouldn’t be the absolute epidemic that it is today. If you’re struggling to get healthy and lose weight, as I am, then perhaps we can walk along this journey together for a while.
